(White Rock, BC) The Peace Arch Hospital Foundation has awarded the Volunteer Cancer Drivers Society a $30,000 grant over the next three years.

Bob Smith, President of the Volunteer Cancer Drivers Society (VCDS) expressed his gratitude, saying it was the first multi-year grant given to the Society. He said, “Our Mission is to provide free, safe, timely and efficient transportation for patients to and from cancer-related treatments throughout the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley.” Smith noted 87 cancer patients in South Surrey/White Rock were given free rides in September.

The Peace Arch Hospital Foundation says it places a high value on the service provided by the Volunteer Cancer Drivers.

“The Foundation’s mission is to support projects and initiatives that enhance the health and wellness of our community,” said Stephanie Beck, Executive Director of Peace Arch Hospital Foundation. “The service that the Volunteer Cancer Drivers Society offers is so important and we are thrilled to provide funding through our Healthy Community Grants program.”
