Recently two caring young grade seven students attending Southridge School in South Surrey decided to help cancer patients by raising money through a bottle drive.
Jade Geddes and Mya Gallant printed their own signs and promoted the event over two weeks raising $200 as a contribution to the Volunteer Cancer Drivers Society which provides free transportation for cancer patients throughout Surrey and many other communities on the Lower Mainland and in the Fraser Valley.
Society Executive Vice President George McAffer was on hand to present the enterprising students with a “Certificate of Appreciation for Excellence in Community Support.” President Bob Smith praised the students’ initiative saying free transportation to and from treatment is essential for cancer patients and their families.
We are immensely proud of these two young students and encourage youth to become champions of their communities through the spirit of kindness.
