Welcome Frans — Making a Meaningful Difference

Frans recently joined the Volunteer Cancer Drivers Society as a volunteer driver, and he’s already making a positive impact in our community. Inspired by a Global News segment in January featuring President Bob Smith and highlighting the urgent need for more volunteer drivers to support cancer patients, Frans knew immediately that he wanted to help.

Having retired after a 24-year career as a senior IT leader at Fortis, Frans was looking for a way to stay active and give back. With several close family members affected by cancer, the cause is deeply personal for him. Volunteering with VCDS has offered Frans a meaningful way to make a difference—one ride at a time.

He finds it incredibly rewarding to provide complimentary transportation for patients who would otherwise struggle to get to their appointments. His compassion, dedication, and friendly presence offer more than just a ride—they provide comfort and peace of mind during a difficult time.
